Our Classroom

This is our shelf with all the K12 materials. Quite a lot of work for the girlies!

Victoria's desk: She has the computer K12 provided. We have modified a prefab "closet/wardrobe" into a desk for her; John installed two slide out surfaces. One is for her keyboard and mouse, the other is just a desk area for her to spread her books and worksheets out.

Isobelle already has a desk, so she will be using that for her workspace. Hopefully she'll be able to use my laptop some of the time. Spanish is entirely online, and I'm hoping both girls can do it at the same time.

This is the rest of the room. We have some full bookshelves and a daybed to hang out on and read. It's a pretty awesome feeling to have the room ready to go!

Before The Beginning...

Isobelle and Victoria will be starting K12 with MNVA for the 2009-2010 school year, after going to a traditional brick and mortar school up until now. This is new to all of us! We're approaching it with a step-by-step attitude. One day at a time, right?

There are wonderful support forums I can go to with some of my general questions. We have several families in the Cloquet area that are trying K12 for the first time this year, all coming from the same background as Izzy and Tori (public brick and mortar school.)

Homeschooling is pretty common around this area, so there are MANY organizations and enrichment programs available. I have looked into a few and will continue to do so. I'd like to get the girls into a choir...

They are taking swimming lessons on the weekend, through the fall. This will count as part of their phy-ed requirements!

They will begin Spanish - I am VERY pleased about that fact. I've bought flash cards for the girls and a Spanish workbook to go along with the provided online curriculum.
